What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?

Vroom is an innovative end-to-end ecommerce company that is revolutionizing the car buying experience. Our scalable, data-driven technology brings all phases of the vehicle buying and selling process to consumers wherever they are and offers an extensive selection of vehicles, transparent pricing, competitive financing, and contact-free, at-home pick-up and delivery. We have experienced tremendous growth and have become a disruptive force in the automotive industry. Vroom is an exciting, dynamic workplace, and there’s no better time to join the team than right now.
Vroom is seeking a Director of Information Security to lead and manage initiatives, programs, and projects that enable the business in a risk-based and agile manner. Reporting directly to the CISO, this individual will manage and lead the Corporate Information Security (InfoSec), Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Incident Detection & Response teams. You are pragmatic and practical in your understanding of InfoSec and associated risks, but also willing to know when to pull in experts and escalate. You will lead a team of dynamic and talented InfoSec professionals who want to learn from your experience and skills. You are an advocate in the value of data driven business decisions, and how InfoSec can be an enabler to the business, not an inhibitor.

Responsibilities:
  • Our InfoSec team is not in the business of saying ‘No’. You will adapt to the business initiatives, interpreting business requirements and consulting on the best solution or approach to achieve desired outcomes
  • Develop, coach, mentor, and lead a team of high-performing InfoSec professionals
  • Serve as a thought leader in Vroom’s InfoSec capabilities, solutions, policies, procedures and standards
  • Lean in as a change agent to shift InfoSec solutions left in business processes and projects, through evangelizing, coordination and execution of proactive InfoSec consulting practices, establishing advocates throughout the organization
  • Provide ad hoc support on special InfoSec hot topics for the business
  • Lead the Incident Detection & Response operations team, delivering effective 24x7x365 coverage and owning the capabilities development roadmap
  • Lead a team of security engineers and architects supporting corporate security projects and initiatives and enterprise and customer IAM
  • Work with the CISO to develop and deliver against the InfoSec Department roadmap and objectives, develop budget projections, and manage costs
  • Be a consensus builder and a strong leader and builder of teams, working directly with the CISO to continuously strengthen Vroom’s cyber resilience and properly address the evolving threat landscape
  • Promote a strong security culture driving security awareness and best practices and continual improvement across the business

About you:
  • You possess strong conceptual thinking and clear and concise communication skills
  • You are a demonstrated leader with team-oriented interpersonal skills and the ability to interface effectively with a broad range of people and roles, including business executives, technology leaders, and enterprise suppliers
  • You maintain calmness and clarity of thought under pressure and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • You have a deep understanding of strategic business objectives and the ability to drive results toward those objectives
  • You have the ability to describe the risks of a security exposure or vulnerability in business-impact terms and propose and explain tradeoffs
  • You are a decisive leader who instills leadership and experience into managing a team in a security organization
  • You are able to work well under minimal supervision
  • You are humble, hardworking and forward-thinking

Qualifications:
  • At least 11 years experience in InfoSec and experience leading teams of InfoSec professionals
  • At least 8 years of total people and cross-functional organizational leadership experience
  • Preferred experience in several fields of practice, brining a diverse background and E-Commerce, retail, manufacturing or similar fields
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • CISSP, CISM, or PMP certifications or equivalent
Benefits
This full-time role offers competitive compensation; health, dental, and vision insurance; a 401k plan; fully company-paid short term disability, long term disability, and life insurance; access to a healthcare concierge service with virtual visits; and 15 annualized days of paid vacation.
But our biggest benefit is being part of a low-ego, high performing team that’s transforming the used car market into a modern, online and data-driven industry. We are looking for people who want to be a part of a contemporary startup culture. What gets us out of bed is working with talented people on a mission that matters.
