The Offers team enables business stakeholders to create and manage subscription Offers for both digital and home delivery within our Offer Management Platform so we can serve the appropriate products and prices to our consumers to grow our subscription business. We are currently working on several projects to redefine how subscriptions offers are built, served and operated at the Times.

You will:

  • Work with your team to build systems that are highly scalable and fault tolerant.

  • Incorporate state of the art telemetry and observability in our platform to enable operational excellence

  • Contribute to technical discussions to gather requirements and develop product features or solutions while maintaining standard methodologies

  • Research and document proposed solutions

  • Build, maintain, and debug server-side applications and tooling

  • Write unit and integration tests

  • Develop processes for automating, testing, and deploying your work

  • Collaborate with Project Management and Product Management and other professionals within your team and across the organization

  • Contribute to our mission of reaching 10+ million paid subscriptions by 2025

You should apply if you have:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Go programming language

  • Expertise in building highly scalable, performant and fault-tolerant microservices and/or distributed systems

  • Experience working with RESTful APIs and GraphQL

  • An understanding of cloud-based deployments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud platform services

  • Incorporated Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery techniques and tooling (e.g. drone, Jenkins, ansible)

  • An understanding of data modeling in both SQL and NoSQL-based database systems

  • Experience mentoring other software engineers through design sessions, coaching, paired programming, troubleshooting, and pulls requests

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container and deployment orchestration

  • Experience with multi-tier application architecture & concepts of networking, load balancing and Linux OS

Some of the tech we use:

Go, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), GraphQL, React, Docker, Kubernetes, Drone, Terraform, Vault, Fastly, Redis, OPenSensus, Datadog

This role may require limited on-call hours. An on-call schedule will be determined when you join, taking into account team size and other variables. On-call hours are unpaid, unless informed otherwise by your manager.
