Starting an online business isn’t the only option to enjoy the freedom and flexibility of working from anywhere.

The Internet is flooded with information and courses around starting your own business online – the sure-fire way to becoming a Digital Nomad, earning an income and having the freedom to live and work from anywhere. Right?

But what if you’re someone who doesn’t have that entrepreneurial drive and the thought of starting a business venture doesn’t really excite you. You’re not alone. Starting a business is not for everyone – it takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears, and it can take several years before you start seeing the fruits of your labour. In fact, it may never provide you with an income you can survive on to live a nomadic lifestyle. It’s tough, it takes loads of stamina, and it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

But that doesn’t mean your dreams of working remotely from anywhere are over. Many digital nomads start online businesses as a side-hustle to an existing remote job. Working remotely for an employer can give you a regular income and this can be all you need to start your digital nomad lifestyle. Provided your role is not location-based, so you can still be productive and perform the tasks related to your job regardless of your physical location, then you should be good to go.

Nowadays, there are plenty of opportunities to work remotely for other companies. As more employers start to realise the benefits of not being confined to the 10km radius of their office when it comes to hiring good employees. We’re also seeing many more companies choosing to operate with a completely virtual business model – and it’s not just tech companies. Opportunities exist within various industries including medical and health, education, accounting and financial services, HR and recruitment, tourism, marketing, and writing.

Here at Remote Work Hub we’re seeing the number of remote job vacancies increasing every week as more and more employers embrace the remote work movement. And the good news is, a lot of those jobs allow people to work from anywhere.

So if you’re not business minded (and let’s face it, most people aren’t), then consider becoming a digital nomad by working remotely for an existing company.

And if you’re worried about not having the right skills to snap up a remote job, consider upskilling yourself. We’ve talked previously about the many courses available online, often free, that you can complete with a commitment of just a few hours a week.

Another option is to learn from others who are already successfully working remotely and living an exciting digital nomad lifestyle. People like Danielle Greason, the founder of Greason Media and VA Lifestyle Design. Danielle helps people to master the online marketing implementation services and systems that are in high-demand by business owners, ensuring you have the right skills to secure a remote job with an employer. Danielle’s training also provides you with ongoing support to help you maintain a long-term virtual career.

Whatever path you decide to take, when it comes to securing a job just be sure to look beyond your geographical location and see the opportunities that exist around the world. There are loads of exciting remote jobs with forward-thinking companies – and one might have your name on it!
