Starting an online business isn’t the only option to enjoy the freedom and flexibility of working from anywhere.
The Internet is flooded with information and courses around starting your own business online – the sure-fire way to becoming a Digital Nomad, earning an income and having the freedom to live and work from anywhere. Right?
But what if you’re someone who doesn’t have that entrepreneurial drive and the thought of starting a business venture doesn’t really excite you. You’re not alone. Starting a business is not for everyone – it takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears, and it can take several years before you start seeing the fruits of your labour. In fact, it may never provide you with an income you can survive on to live a nomadic lifestyle. It’s tough, it takes loads of stamina, and it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
But that doesn’t mean your dreams of working remotely from anywhere are over. Many digital nomads start online businesses as a side-hustle to an existing remote job. Working remotely for an employer can give you a regular income and this can be all you need to start your digital nomad lifestyle. Provided your role is not location-based, so you can still be productive and perform the tasks related to your job regardless of your physical location, then you should be good to go.
Nowadays, there are plenty of opportunities to work remotely for other companies. As more employers start to realise the benefits of not being confined to the 10km radius of their office when it comes to hiring good employees. We’re also seeing many more companies choosing to operate with a completely virtual business model – and it’s not just tech companies. Opportunities exist within various industries including medical and health, education, accounting and financial services, HR and recruitment, tourism, marketing, and writing.
